Books Wrap Up- June 2013

I know this post is a bit early but never mind! I probably won't be doing much reading today, so I thought I'd just make the post now.

Alright, so this month I read 2 books. I know that isn't much but I've been playing lots of video games and doing homework lots, so I haven't really had that much time to read. I don't have a picture of the books together since I don't own one of them but the books I read this month are:

1. The Fear- Charlie Higson

2. The Woman in Black- Susan Hill

And I'm currently reading:
The Sacrifice- Charlie Higson

So that's pretty much it. Expect another post to come soon of books I want to read next month. Bye guys!

Book Review- A Street Cat Named Bob

Name: A Street Cat Named Bob
Author: James Bowen
Genre: Non-Fiction

Publisher: Hodder Paperbacks
Synopsis: "When James Bowen found an injured, ginger street cat curled up with the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, he had no idea just how much his life was about to change.James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London and the last thing he needed was a pet. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, imagining he would never see him again. But Bob had other ideas. Soon the two were inseparable and their diverse, comic and occasionally dangerous adventures would transform both their lives, slowly healing the scars of each other's troubled pasts. A Street Cat Named Bob is a moving and uplifting story that will touch the heart of anyone who reads it."

What I got this month post information

It's getting close to the end of the month, which means I'll be getting money to buy things and I need to make a post about what I bought this month.
So I thought I'd give you guys a bit more information about these kinds of posts.

So, in the post I'll include what I got and at the end, an image of everything I got all together. Now, the date of these posts varies because it all depends on when I get everything I've ordered, and I don't get money until very close to the end of the month. So the posts may come in the middle of the month, but count for the previous month, as that is the time that I ordered them.

Just thought I'd do a post on that to keep you all up to date.

Bye guys!

5 classics I must buy

Okay guys, I know I make a lot of lists and stuff but this will help me with future monthly wishlists. One or two of these you may have seen on previous lists but here we go! (This is in no particular order)

1. The Great Gatsby- F. Scott Fitzgerald
It looks like a good book, there is mixed reviews on it and a film is coming out/has come out so I thought I should read it and see what all the fuss is about

2. To Kill a Mockingbird- Harper Lee
This book will help with my GCSE's probably and I do want to see if it is any good. Hopefully it will be, and I plan to get it very soon.

3. The Catcher in the rye- J.D Salinger
Yet another classic that will help me with my English GCSE and it's something I've been meaning to try out for a very long time. I look forward to it.

4. The Picture of Dorian Gray- Oscar Wilde
My friend is obsessed with this book and with Oscar Wilde, and for ages she's been begging me to try out this book, so I will. She better not let me down!

5. The Complete Sherlock Holmes- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
This may seem like I'm cheating a bit with this one since it's a massive book with multiple books inside it, but I didn't want a big list of just Sherlock Holmes. I want to read all of the Sherlock Holmes books, and this is just simple because they are all in one. Not portable, but readable. I feel like I must read this.

That's it now everyone. I hope you enjoyed that little post.
I know they may be little bit it does take quite a bit of effort editing each post and making it look decent(ish) for PC viewers (I know it doesn't look brilliant mobile viewers, but it'll have to do)

Bye guys!

The woman in black- film and book review

So, before I start, I just want to say that I probably won't be doing many reviews that involve the book and movie, and this is more of a comparison/review, and probably more of a comparison. Anyway, lets get started!

Book:
Alright, so the book was alright, I need to read it again though since I read it in English class and therefore focused more on how it was made tense and stuff. But I thought it was meh. I didn't love it yet I didn't hate it, it's kinda 50-50 for me. I'll do a proper review when I've read it again. Which may not be for a long time.
I liked Arthur a lot, and I felt sorry for go at the end, he never seemed to get a break. And the images that were created in my head by it were quite scary, Susan Hill wrote it very well, I'll give her that.

Film:
The film was quite scary and jumpy but I did like it. The only problem was that some parts outside of Eel Marsh House were quite rushed, and the main focus was inside the house. It was very different from the book but seemed good too. The ending I found very sad, and I'll admit I did have a little tear in my eye at that point. DON'T JUDGE ME!! I don't want to give too much away, but for those who have seen the woman in black film will know what I mean when I talk about the ending.

Comparison:
If u turned the film into a separate book, you'd see that the chapters from that book compared to the original book are in a different order, and the ending completely changed. I'll admit that some of the changes were good, but part of the ending was kinda cheesy.

Review:
I'd give the film 4/5 stars and the book 3/5 stars. I just preferred the film, even though it was quite creepy.

Bye guys!

Internet Announcement

Hello everyone!

I'm just making this post now to warn you all that I may not be able to make proper posts until next week. This is because my parents are changing Internet provider from Sky to BT, which is meant to be better. Anyway, you're probably wondering how I'm doing this if I don't have Internet. Well, I'm using the blogger app on my iPhone to post, which is why I'm saying I may not be able to post but I may be able to post. Depending on my 3G connection.

Well, see you guys soon!

How I've decided to keep track of my book reading

Hello everyone. Sometimes I struggle with keeping track of what books I've read in what month, and if I'm going to do a 'what I read this month' sort of post every month, then I need to be able to keep track. So I've taken a little notebook that I haven't ever used in the year I've had it, and I've put it to good use. Below are some images

Please excuse the messy handwriting, it's not the best and I'm left handed, and because the notebook technically counts as new, it's hard to keep open and write at the same time. Ugh, poor left handed me.

Anyway, that's it for this post, I think it'll really help me keep track of what books I've read in what months.
Bye guys!

10 books I must buy

Here is my list of 10 books I need to buy soon. Enjoy!

1. The Way I am- Eminem

So I've decided that I need to buy this because I love Eminem and I've read Angry Blonde, which was quite interesting, and this book is more of a biography, and I feel like I should read the official Eminem biography.

2. Anna and the French kiss- Stephanie Perkins

I've seen a lot of good reviews about this, so I want to give it a go. It sounds good and seems good according to other people, so why not give it a go?

3. Beautiful Creatures- Kami Garcia

Once again, I've seen good reviews about this, and I feel like giving it a go, even though it's book 1 of a series. I feel like trying out new series, and this one seems good.

4. The Great Gatsby- F. Scott Fitzgerald

This book has been going round a lot lately, so I thought I'd read it. Also, it's a classic, and I always want to try out new classics.

5. Of Mice and Men- John Steinbeck

This book is also a classic, so I thought I'd give it a go. Also, I have to learn about it soon for my English GCSE so I thought it would be best to get it and read it soon, so I have a head start and can understand it more.

6. The ghost and the goth- Stacey Kade

This book sounds interesting and looks different, so I want to try it out. And lots of people say it's good.

7. Wonder- R.J Palacio

One of my close friends recommended this book to me a while ago, and I've just never gotten round to actually buying it. Maybe this list will help me remember to actually purchase it!

8. Thirteen Reasons Why- Jay Asher

This book has a strong topic, which is suicide. I want to read this book because of the strong topic and because people say it's a beautiful book. I feel like I must give this book a go.

9. Eleanor & Park- Rainbow Rowell

I recently saw a review of this book and thought 'hey, I wanna read this too!' It sounds good, and I adore the cover!

10. Matched- Ally Condie

I keep seeing this every time I go into Waterstones or look on Amazon, and after looking into it a bit more, I wanna try it out!

Well that's the 10 books. You'll probably see them on my monthly wishlists along with others. Well, see you guys soon! Bye!

10 Series that I should read

I like reading different series because it's a longer story, and I hate it when you feel like a book was too short and wish it was longer. So here is a list of 10 series I should read.
Most of the different series on this list are on here because I've only read either the first book or first couple of books.

1. Harry Potter
I've read the first two books and watched a few films, and I honestly think I'm far behind on Harry Potter, I need to read this series, and possibly watch the films too. This series has 7 books and it's by J.K Rowling

2. The Mortal Instruments
I honestly don't know much about this series, but many reviews have said it's good. I have the first book and I will be reading it very soon. This series has 6 books and it's by Cassandra Clare.

3. Gone
I've only read the first book and it was good, and I do own the next 4 books after that, and then need to buy the newest book. I'll probably read those much later on, but it's one of those series I need to finish reading. This series has 6 books and is by Michael Grant.

4. Sherlock Holmes
If you don't know this series, then I don't know where you've been. This series is classed as a classic, and I haven't read them, so I've put this on this list, as I feel like I must read them. This series has 9 (I think) books and is by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

5. Twilight
I'm not sure if I'm going to enjoy these books, but I thought I might as well give them a go, as I have them. It's got vampires in it, and I do honestly like vampires, but cool vampires, not ones that seem to glitter. I won't watch the films, but I'll give the books a go. This series has 4 books and is by Stephenie Meyer.

6. Gallagher Girls
I've read the first book in this spy series and did enjoy it, so I would like to finish reading this series. It seems to be good, and I like the idea of it. This series has 6 books and is by Ally Carter.

7. Monster High
I've read the first two books and they were pretty good so I thought I'd at least finish the series. If you know of the dolls, then you should at least give the books a go. This series has 4 books in it and it's by Lisi Harrison.

8. Cherub
My boyfriend has read these and said they are good and that I'd probably like them, so I've decided I'd give them a go, I've got the first book, I'm not sure when I'll read them, but I will eventually. This series has 12 books and is by Robert Muchamore

9. Percy Jackson and the Olympians
I've got the first book in this series, haven't read it though. I want to try them out. There is mixed feelings about these books, but meh, I'll give them a go, like with Twlight. This series has 5 books and is by Rick Riordan.

10. Uglies
I have the first book, and I haven't read it but for some reason, I really wanted to give it a go. I think I may like it. This series has 4 books and is by Scott Westerfeld.

So that is the 10 series that I should read. Also, I'm currently reading The Enemy series by Charlie Higson. I'm on book 3 right now. There are 4 books in the series so far and a 5th one coming out in September, shortly after my birthday. Eventually I'll start posting book reviews, and series reviews.

Bye guys

June 2013 wishlist

So every month I want to make a wishlist of things I want to get with the money I get. I'll say what it is and include a picture and this will be roughly every month, apart from September (my birthday month) and December (Christmas) where I will make a birthday and Christmas wishlist. So lets get started.

1. Zombies vs Unicorns
I like zombies and I like unicorns so this book seemed interesting. I'll most likely get the paperback edition because I prefer paperback books. I'm looking forward to trying this out.

2. Super Street Fighter IV (3DS)
I played a super street fighter game on the Xbox 360 so I thought I'd give the 3ds version a go, especially because I've recently gotten back into playing my 3ds again, and I don't have many games specifically for the 3ds at the moment, even though I've had it a very long time. I look forward to playing this.

3. Super Monkey Ball 3D (3DS)
I've only ever played one or two monkey ball games and I think they were okay, and I'd like to see how a 3D version is. I also want to play more 3ds games, like I said with super street fighter.

4. Purple silicone 3DS case
I could do with my 3DS having more protection since its not got a case or cover on it. And I like purple so this seems like a good choice.

5. DS Games Case (Holds 24 games)
I have lots of ds games (over 24) so I'll need multiple ones of these. At the moment my games are all in a bag that I can take with me anywhere but I need something else that is safer and that holds lots of games. This is also a nice colour.

Okay so that's everything I want to get this month, hopefully I'll be able to get it all. Bye guys!!
