Book Review- Model Misfit (Geek Girl #2)

Name:
Model Misfit

Author: Holly Smale
Genre: Young-Adult, Contemporary
Publication Date: 26th September 2013
Publisher: Harper Collins
Synopsis: "My name is Harriet Manners, and I am still a geek. Harriet knows that modelling won't transform you. She knows that being as uniquely odd as a polar bear isn't necessarily a bad thing (even in a rainforest). And that the average person eats a ton of food a year though her pregnant stepmother is doing her best to beat this. What Harriet doesn't know is where she's going to fit in once the new baby arrives. With summer plans ruined, modelling in Japan seems the perfect chance to get as far away from home as possible. But nothing can prepare Harriet for the craziness of Tokyo, her competitive model flatmates and her errant grandmother's 'chaperoning'. Or seeing gorgeous Nick everywhere she goes. But this time, Harriet knows what a broken heart feels like. Can geek girl find her place on the other side of the world, or is Harriet lost for good?"

Review:
Again, this book was hilarious and I was so happy to receive it for Christmas from my lovely boyfriend. Harriet never really seems to believe in herself when it comes to modelling, but she's got to have something going for her if she's wanted in Japan to do a bunch of shoots! What's amazing about this series is, Harriet doesn't change. She's this lovely, nerdy and clumsy girl filled with facts and is hopeless with boys. She was exactly the same in book 1. Most people would probably want a character to change a little, but with Harriet, you want her to stay the same, and she delivers on those wants. There are a variety of characters that you'll love and hate, old and new. I personally love Wilbur (that's with a bur not an iam. A little something for those who have read the first book.) and I love some of the new characters too. There are some characters in the series you'll absolutely hate. This isn't because they are poorly written, they are so well written but are meant to be hated characters. Holly Smale really has talent and I can't wait for book 3 to come out this year. I highly recommend this series and I have high expectations for the next book.
