Some blog related Information

Hey guys.
So, I got bored and decided to try out 'Wordpress' again.
For those of you who don't know, I actually started blogging on wordpress, but quickly changed to blogger because I wanted a change.

I won't be deleting or abandoning this blog.
I want to try out wordpress for a bit, just to see how I do on there.
I'll mainly only be posting book reviews, but I may post wrap ups and other things on there that are almost identical to what is posted on this blog.
This blog is my priority, Wordpress is a test.
I want to see what blogging platform is better, and by knowing that, I need to have a blog on each that gets almost regular content.
The only post I have on there at this particular moment is a review for Divergent.
If you do look at that post, it is nearly IDENTICAL to the one on this blog. I think by using wordpress, I could see how my blog does when it's easier to get followers and search things by tags, if you get what I mean?

This blog is always going to be what I post my reviews, hauls, wrap ups and other stuff on first. That will never change. In all honesty, it's likely I just abandon the Wordpress blog again because I prefer blogger, but this blog is never getting abandoned.

If you want to see the blog, link is HERE

Just some information

Hey guys, I have some news for you.

Basically, blogging regularly will be difficult for a while for multiple reasons.

School is a big thing, I have many tests coming up which is affecting not only my reading but time to think of things. I only really get the weekend to relax and that is pretty much my reading time and social time. I have different tests coming up, some important, some not really that important but I still need to do well in them if I want to be able to stay in my current group or even move up back to my old group. I also have actual GCSE related exams and coursework to do, including a French writing exam which contributes to 60% of my GCSE in French and English Language and English Literature coursework involving analysing classics and recording conversations to study the way people talk around others and actually doing some creative writing. Year 10 is a busy year, you have to make sure most/all coursework is done to leave plenty of time for preparing for our actual GCSE's which will be at the end of year 11 (in just over a year). It's a stressful time and I'm going through my own personal things at the same time.

Another thing is, I find it difficult to think of what to post and make sure it's scheduled for Monday and Thursday. Book Reviews, Wrap Up's, Hauls and other sorts of reviews are all I really do, and I need to have new things and be able to read things for those to happen.

I'll try and post as often as I can but it won't be easy.
I hope you understand.

Have a great day guys.
Bye.

Just A Warning

Alright, so today I'm back at school (I'm writing this in advance so it's out on time) and I don't know how much time I'll get to write posts. So here is the plan!

If I get time to write posts, I'll do them in advance and schedule them so they either come out on Mondays or Thursdays or even both.

School makes us busy, we all know that, we've all done it. And you can probably imagine how hectic it is trying to learn, do homework, do tests, be with family, be with friends and trying to write at least 1 or 2 posts a week all in 7 days. Not only that but family troubles come up every now and then, and I'm sure most families get their little ups and downs so it's necessary to support them through these times.

I will try my hardest to write posts, but I guess you'll only occasionally get wrap ups, hauls and reviews. It's hard to do big reviews and big posts with so much going on. I'll be trying my best to prepare posts in advance, but I can't promise anything too big.

Bye guys!

Happy 2014

Hello everyone!

So it's now 2014 in the UK!!

And I just thought I'd write a little post.

So, I'm not out celebrating. I'm actually in my bed, staying nice and warm! I don't really celebrate the new year until the morning because I'm a lazy girl and need sleep. I've most likely fallen asleep by the time this is properly up (writing in advance like a pro). I can't function without sleep, I turn into a zombie and I just want to read and eat for the majority of the day. If I don't get enough sleep, I also get ill, I end up feeling sick and dizzy the whole day which is weird! Does that happen to anyone else?

Anyway, I'm probably going to set myself a few goals.
Reading wise, my goal is to read 40 books this year (but more would be nice) at the least.
Life wise, my goals are to do better academically and try to be more positive about certain things. I wouldn't necessarily say I'm a fully negative person but I do let things get me down, which is never good! I want to do better academically because in September I start possibly one of the most challenging school years of my life, I get ready to do my actual GCSE's. I've already started improving on my grades. For my December grade sheet, I got mainly B's, an A in history and a C in art & chemistry. It's a big step up from last year and I'm proud of myself. I want this pride in my grades and I want the good grades to continue.

In conclusion...

Happy New year everyone!
I hope 2014 is filled with love, happiness, health and all the good things in life!
It may not be brilliant all the time, but just look forward to the good moments, because there will be!

Bye guys

Almost Christmas

Once again I apologise for the lack of posts. School was awful! I had so many 'end of term' exams and homework and family issues. (Yep, I'm sorry). But I am off for the holidays now.

I am honestly not sure how many posts I'll do during this holiday. I just want to spend time with my family and friends, but I don't want to neglect the blog. So I'm thinking of making a bunch of posts and just putting them up for whenever. This will most likely include a variety of things (books, makeup stuff, maybe a bit of phone related stuff. Anything really) and I'll probably have enough stuff for 2 things a week for about 2 or 3 weeks (it really does depend). I'll most likely put these things up every Monday and Thursday, so look out for those! I'll also have a bonus post of 'what I got for Christmas' because those are fun and they aren't bragging, I'm just excited! And maybe a post of things I bought with Christmas money because everyone likes spending and receiving money, and maybe it's things you'll enjoy too!

On a slightly different note, in 2 days it's my boyfriends 15th birthday! (Yes, I'm the older one, but I look younger and I'm about 1 foot shorter...) and in 4 days it's CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!! Those two events are so close together it's unbelievable. It's always hard for me to spoil him but I'm going to try a bit harder with buying earlier next year so he gets double the amount of things this year, because I like to spoil him but don't ever have much money to spend (£20 a month is never good) but I do try!! I got him stuff that he asked for, it's hard to buy surprise stuff for him because he spends money quite frequently, and I'm quite difficult to buy things for, so we just have to give each-other lists.

On another note, picture quality in reviews and things where I have to take pictures myself should be improved. Why? I got a different phone. Basically, because of having so many phones in my house with different contracts, one phone is always up for upgrade, and my iPhone 4S broke! The power button doesn't work anymore!! So my dad remembered he had an iPhone 5 that wasn't really used because he got his free-ish upgrade and got an iPhone 5s and gave me the iPhone 5! (Oh how I love contracts) and I'm very happy! I did have to get a new number though because of SIM card changing would cost an extra £10 and we didn't really have the money for that because of Christmas stuff! That part was annoying but I'm very happy and the picture quality has improved. I don't use a proper camera because I use my iPad and phone to make posts and it would be too much hassle but the phone is decent!

I'm not sure what this post is but look out for more posts soon! BYEEEEE

A little bit of help

This post probably isn't gonna mean much to some people, and most of you won't even care but this is a little message to those out in the big world that may be struggling with something.

I honestly wanna say that whether this post is gonna help you or not really does depend on your situation.

So many people are having a big problem in their life right now, and just want someone to be there for them, even if they don't say it, they probably want someone. If you are someone who is having a problem, don't be afraid to let people help you out, they care about you. And if you know your friend is having a problem, but refuses help, don't get too involved, tell them you are here for them no matter what, and let them know that you care and will do anything to help them out. They may let you help them in time.

For those who want help, and aren't sure who to turn to, you've got your friends and family, and they all love you and care for you, don't be scared to talk to them. Don't do anything drastic that you know for a fact that you'd regret some day. Life is a roller coaster, it's got its ups and downs, but that's just all part of it. There's a quote that I once saw, it said "life is like a bike, you've just gotta go forward and try to keep your balance" and there's another that says "when life kicks you, let it kick you foward". Those are brilliant quotes that can really help us in life. We've gotta pick ourselves back up, and carry on, standing tall and strong.

There are some ways people deal with things that we don't always agree with, but we have to let them do things for themselves, we can't treat people like babies. If the issue becomes a problem, then maybe you should help, but let the person talk to you in their own time, some people want a shoulder to cry on, and some people would rather cry on their own and pretend that everything is fine. Even though I don't agree with the second one, meaning I don't agree that it should be done, we need to allow people to deal with things in their own time, at their own pace. You can't force someone into doing something you don't want them to do.

I honestly don't know why I wrote this. I've been having a bad couple of days and thought this post would be relevant. If I'm not active for a while, I'm just trying to get my head straight. I need to think some things through, get some stuff sorted. Once that is all fixed, I can be back to posting vaguely regularly. I'm trying to think of a good time-table for posts, but I'm not sure how it'll work.

Bye guys

UK Storm 2013

This is a serious post to those all over the UK.
The storm that's been happening has been awful.
On Twitter, I've seen a lot of sarcastic comments about how bad it is and they've just got a picture of a blown over bin or a broken garden gnome, but it's so much worse.

People have died and a boy has gone missing (and feared dead). This isn't a joke.
I've honestly not had anything majorly bad happen in my area or to my family. Only that the bench that was made in memory of my deceased grandfather was broken and the fence by it was broken and it isn't safe for animals, and pets have been freaked out.

This is serious stuff, if you want to make your sarcastic comments, tell them to friends, don't post them all over the internet, think about how the families of those who have died feel, think about how the family of the missing boy feels. It's not funny, and death never is.

I just wanted to get this off of my chest.
To those in the UK like me, stay safe guys!

See you soon with a review...

Internet Obsessions

Hello world!
I've returned! I'm so glad that the internet is back in my house, I hate not having it.
I honestly think I probably rely on the internet too much. It's what I use to talk to my friends and family, buy things, find out about new books, talk about books to people around the world, do homework with and loads of other stuff.

I think this May just be a problem with our generation but you know what? It's okay to be obsessed with the internet. It's educating us, entertaining us and keeping us out of our parents way. There are so many benefits that some people don't see, it can get annoying.

Honestly,I don't think I social network as much as I used to. I used to have everything and always use it. I think the only social networking related things I use are: Twitter, Facebook, goodreads, Instagram, YouTube, vine, snapchat, and things related to blogging. Believe it or not that's been cut down.

If you want to cut down on how much internet you use, I'd honestly recommend just reading a book.

This post has so meaning, so here are images of internet cats...

The internet irritates me!

This isn't about the actual internet, but mainly internet providers and 3G!!
My internet is down, and I can't actually remember why, but I know my dad told me why.
Anyway, I have 3G on my iPad and my phone. The only issue is that 3G is terrible!! Where I live, it seems to be awful, and I don't even live in the country side, I live in an area where there is a town and a beach nearby. I never seem to get good 3G signal, which means doing homework online can be a serious issue, and I'm lucky that no homework needed to be typed up and sent via email or required the internet to use.

You're probably wondering how I'm writing this and posting it. We'll, I'm using my IPad and using my incredibly slow and awful 3G on the iPad to post this. It's hard for me to live without the internet, I need it for my social networking (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, goodreads, snapchat) and all that sort of stuff. And it means I'm bored! I can only read for a certain amount of time before my eyes get tired, and the iPad is just easier to use, and I like looking at stuff online. I also did want to do a bit more shopping, for a new cable for my iPhone/iPad and some more books (like vampire academy and other books that are first in a series).

My internet should be back by Tuesday, and when it comes back, I will be overjoyed.
Also, I have the day off of school on Thursday due to a teachers strike, so my year (year 10) and the year below me (year 9) get a day off, so I guess you could expect some posts and reviews on that day!

I look foward to posting again soon. I guess this was just a post to let you guys know why I'm not posting too much. Apart from the obvious reasons which is school, homework and all that delightful stuff!

Whoops- blog url changed

I forgot to tell bloglovin about the url change, so I'm sorta doing it now. Or I may just reclaim the blog. I'm not sure what's happening. I have contacted bloglovin, but I'm doing this just to be extra sure.

Okay, so my old url was http://kittyz98.blogspot.com
And the new (current) url is http://laurascorner98.blogspot.co.uk

Hopefully all this bloglovin stuff will get sorted soon.

Bye guys :)

What I got updates

Hello everyone. So I decided against posting 'what I got' update things every month. Why? I just couldn't keep up with everything. I've decided to only post 'what I got' updates for my birthdays and Christmases. I'll find it easier and it'll mean that I can focus on making other posts much better.

Like right now, I'm currently deciding on what books to do reviews on. And I'm also thinking about what video games
I could post little things about, not strictly reviews but you get what I mean. It's hard for me to keep up with what I got every month, especially with getting pictures and stuff. Most of the time, I forget what I got in which month.

I'm sorry to any of those who enjoyed reading those posts.

September already?

Aloha everyone!

Can you believe it's September already? This year has gone by so quickly.
It feels like only yesterday the summer holidays had just begun, and now I'm back to school next week.
In 10 days it'll be my 15th birthday.
On Wednesday I'll be starting year 10 at school.
And before you know it, it'll be Christmas, and then 2014.

With the time seeming like its going by so quickly, I've realised just how precious life is. Life is so short when you think about it, so we need to make the most of it while we can!

In all honesty, I've not been the best student, year 9 was probably my worst academic year, my end of year report wasn't too bad, but my test results and homework could have been a lot better. So I've decided that year 10 is going to be a better year. I'm going to try and do better at school. How? Well, I'm going to do more notes in class, do better homework and listen more. And when it comes to doing tests, I'll make sure I revise more. Revision has never been something I've done, so I think I'll start doing better. Year 10 is going to be a fresh start.

For any of you who are reading, I have a few questions.
- How are you going to try and make the most of life?
- Is there anything you want to try and improve on?
- What has been the highlight of your summer?

Bye guys! See ya soon!

Big Changes (in progress)

Ahola everyone!
I thought I'd make this post because at the moment I'm currently coming up with a lot of new things for the blog. Allow me to explain.
My blogs name is just my username on here, so I thought I should come up with an original and better name for this blog, which then leads on to the next change. The banner. I like the banner, but it needs changing, especially if the name of the blog changes.

I'm stuck for ideas, my blog has so many different things on it, so I can't really have a name that sticks to one genre, well, I guess I could. I'd need something that mixes the different types of posts together. So something bookish, gamerish, well, you know what I mean. I have a few ideas I guess but they sound very similar to other bloggers blogs and are quite generic names. I'd want something unique and awesome.

I'll post in the future when I've come up with a final decision.

Bye guys!

Unread Books

I decided to write down some things about unread books I have, because I saw a video by one of my favourite YouTubers, MercysBookishMusings

I own about 43 unread books and about 41 read books. Making a total of 84 books, which sounds about right. This has put me off buying books, and I'm going to try and stop buying books in big amounts. I may occasionally buy a book, but not very often, unless it's a copy of a book I have read but do not own. I may get books for my birthday and christmas, but overall, I'll barely get any books.

Why do I have over 40 books that I haven't read? Well, this is because of many reasons. One reason is because there are always new books I want to try out and read, so I buy those and then read them, and end up pushing older books further back, which is a shame. I don't know why I've done this, it's just how things go. An annoying thing is I own a lot of books that are the first book in a series, so I can't really continue reading a series properly, because it would mean that I need to buy more books.

How do I plan on getting through all of my books? Simple, I barely buy any new books, I read stand-alone books first and then go onto series that I own almost all of, and then I start new series. Some bigger series I may not read for a very long time, because I don't like the size of them at the moment, but all books will get read eventually, or at least attempted to be read, and possibly put into my abandoned bookshelf on goodreads and then the book will be given to charity. I have already done that with one series, Twilight, and it's something I will continue to do.

Lately I've had a look at some books, and I decided to get rid of a few that I knew I'd never read. I never sell books, I donate them to charity. I'd rather help out a charity than get sell books to pocket the money myself, and knowing me, I'd most likely spend it on either books or sweets anyway. Silly me!

Charles Dickens- My Favourite Author

My all-time favourite author is Charles Dickens.
I think everyone knows who Charles Dickens is, but for those who don't know, allow me to give you some information.

Name: Charles John Huffam Dickens
Date of Birth: 7th February 1812
Date of Death: 9th June 1870 (Aged 85)
Place of Birth: Hampshire, England
Place of Death: Kent, England
Occupation: Writer
Charles Dickens wrote over a dozen novels and many plays and short stories. A few you may be most familiar with are Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, A Christmas Carol, A Tale of Two Cities, The Mystery of Edwin Drood and David Copperfield.
Of course there are many more, but those are just some of the ones you may know the best.
There is a place in Kent called Dickens World. I have been there, before it got changed round, and it was amazing. The boat ride was brilliant and it was amazing learning about characters and more about the genius writer himself.

I like classics, and Charles Dickens just has that special writing style that I love. I'm not really sure how to explain it but it is amazing.

I have no idea what else to say. I guess just read some of his books for yourself and you'll most likely see why he's my favourite author.

Hello Bloglovin!

Hello everyone. I just wanna explain what bloglovin is really.
It's basically a website to follow blogs on all different blog making sites and to keep track of your followers.
This is good because the google one is shutting down, which is a shame, but hey, we can't always have it our way, and bloglovin seems better.

So, why should you join bloglovin?
Well, you should join it so you can still follow and be up to date with all your favourites blogs newest posts! You can also claim your blog so you can help people realise that bloglovin is the way to go! It's also a good way of getting more page views and possibly even followers. So your blog can become more successful and you could talk to more people, and maybe do more things that interest them. It's something I'd love to do.

Theres the website, and an app. I know it's available for iphone, but I'm not sure about android, you may have to look more into that. Bloglovin is simple to use and free. So why not join, keep your followers!
You can import your favourite blogs from google reader too!
Below is a lovely link so you can follow my blog.

Follow on Bloglovin enjoy!

What I got this month post information

It's getting close to the end of the month, which means I'll be getting money to buy things and I need to make a post about what I bought this month.
So I thought I'd give you guys a bit more information about these kinds of posts.

So, in the post I'll include what I got and at the end, an image of everything I got all together. Now, the date of these posts varies because it all depends on when I get everything I've ordered, and I don't get money until very close to the end of the month. So the posts may come in the middle of the month, but count for the previous month, as that is the time that I ordered them.

Just thought I'd do a post on that to keep you all up to date.

Bye guys!

Internet Announcement

Hello everyone!

I'm just making this post now to warn you all that I may not be able to make proper posts until next week. This is because my parents are changing Internet provider from Sky to BT, which is meant to be better. Anyway, you're probably wondering how I'm doing this if I don't have Internet. Well, I'm using the blogger app on my iPhone to post, which is why I'm saying I may not be able to post but I may be able to post. Depending on my 3G connection.

Well, see you guys soon!

How I've decided to keep track of my book reading

Hello everyone. Sometimes I struggle with keeping track of what books I've read in what month, and if I'm going to do a 'what I read this month' sort of post every month, then I need to be able to keep track. So I've taken a little notebook that I haven't ever used in the year I've had it, and I've put it to good use. Below are some images

Please excuse the messy handwriting, it's not the best and I'm left handed, and because the notebook technically counts as new, it's hard to keep open and write at the same time. Ugh, poor left handed me.

Anyway, that's it for this post, I think it'll really help me keep track of what books I've read in what months.
Bye guys!
